Carlos Iturrieta – Bass-Baritone

In 2015, he began his musical studies at the Institute of Musical Arts (IDAM) in the city of Concepción, where he was awarded a scholarship for four consecutive years under the tutelage of the Chilean baritone, Pablo Castillo, alongside the renowned Chilean pianist, Verónica Torres. During that period, he participated in the Camerata Vocal Concepción.
Regarding his vocal training, he has received lessons from renowned Chilean opera singers such as Rodrigo Navarrete, Oscar Quezada, Christian Senn, the distinguished Italian baritone, Alessandro Corbelli, and the Chilean soprano, Pilar Aguilera.
He has participated in two international lyrical singing competitions: first in San Pedro de la Paz, Chile, and secondly in the city of Trujillo, Peru, reaching the semifinal stage in both competitions.
In 2018, he received the prestigious “Amigos del Teatro Municipal de Santiago” scholarship, which was granted to him again in 2019.
In May 2019, he was selected as a semifinalist in Plácido Domingo’s “Centre de Perfeccionament” in the city of Valencia, Spain.
He has been a featured soloist in the baroque work “Dixit Dominus” by Handel at the Regional Theater of Concepción, alongside the Camerata D’amici under the general direction of Chilean maestro Manuel Suazo.
He was a soloist in Mozart’s Requiem performed at the Cathedral of Concepción, conducted by Argentine maestro Leandro Botto.
Additionally, he participated in the work “Die erste Walpurgisnacht” by F. Mendelssohn with the symphony orchestra and choir of the University of Concepción, conducted by American maestro Donato Cabrera.
He made his opera debut in G. Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly”, performed at the Biobío Regional Theater in the role of the Imperial Commissioner, under the baton of Italian maestro Lorenzo Tazzieri.
At the end of 2019, he joined the cast of the production company “Modo Escénico” as a singer, performing educational and cultural concerts for schools, theaters, and cultural centers. Throughout 2020 and 2021, he performed numerous concerts and shows for the Teatro Del Cariño, and in 2021, he worked as a teacher in the artistic workshops of the Escuelas del Cariño.
He participated as an actor and singer in the play “Museo Musical Vivo”, portraying an explorer who helps his professor recover his memory through music and singing.
He was a member of the Andean music ensemble “Qhana Thaki,” creating sounds inspired by the South American highlands.
He also participated in the folk music group “La tercera pata,” performing traditional and original works.
