Catalina Prado – Soprano

She began her musical journey in 2013 when she joined the Symphonic Choir of the University of Chile, under the baton of conductor Juan Pablo Villarroel, becoming at that time the youngest member to pass the admission exam in decades. During her participation, she had the opportunity to sing for renowned national and international orchestra conductors, including the American orchestral conductor Leonid Grin, conductor Juan Pablo Izquierdo, violinist and conductor Alejandra Urrutia, and artistic director Josep Vicent.
It was during her stay and learning in the Symphonic Choir (2013-2014) that she met her voice teacher, the distinguished national soprano Claudia Pereira, with whom she began her private studies. The following year (2015), she started her academic training as a Superior Music Performer in Lyrical Singing at the Conservatory of Music of the Universidad Mayor, where she graduated with the highest distinction in May 2022.
Since 2016, she embarked on her career as a soloist in the Young Talents concert season, a musical platform dedicated to outstanding students from her alma mater. In May 2017, she participated in masterclasses led by the renowned soprano Noema Erba, hailing from the Czech Republic and recognized in prestigious international competitions. Additionally, in May of the same year, she was invited to attend masterclasses at the Royal Opera House with directors David Gowland and André Heller-Lopes at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago.
In April 2022, she portrayed the leading role of Alma in the dramatic musical play “Museo Musical Vivo”. During the same year, she was trained by the lyrical soprano specializing in Andean music, Edith Ramos, to perform as a soloist in the Andean music ensemble “Qhana Thaki.” Additionally, she participates with the folk music group “La Tercera Pata” in Chilean folk shows that involve music, theater, dance, and poetry.
Her repertoire includes arias from opera, operetta, zarzuela, song (lied, chanson), oratorio arias, contemporary chamber music, popular repertoire, and musical theater.
In 2018, she received the prestigious Amigos del Teatro Municipal de Santiago scholarship and performed the roles of Susanna in the opera “The Marriage of Figaro,” Christine Daaé and Meg Giry in the musical “The Phantom of the Opera,” and Musetta in the opera “La Bohème,” the latter two productions taking place at the Teatro Municipal de Las Condes.
In 2019, she joined the production company “Modo Escénico” as a soprano, participating in educational concerts for numerous communities.
During the period from 2020 to 2021, she performed concerts and shows for the Teatro Del Cariño, and in 2021, she worked as a teacher in the artistic workshops of the Escuelas del Cariño.
At the end of 2021, she was invited to perform as a soloist in the Christmas Concert held at the Teatro Municipal de Las Condes, where he/she performed the “Villancico Yaucano” with the String Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of the Universidad Mayor, under the baton of conductor Sebastián Espinosa.
